Accelerated Development Zones – City Region Leads the Way

The City Region is pioneering an innovative new way of funding transformational economic change through Accelerated Development Zones that could lead to the creation of 44,000 new jobs.

The City Region Board meeting on 28th January received a financial and technical feasibility study from PricewaterhouseCoopers for a cross border ADZ to fund a series of transport infrastructure projects.  Following the meeting Board Chair Cllr Mike Whitby wrote to the Prime Minister seeking his support for the City Region to pilot the introduction of ADZs across the country.

Employment and Skills Multi Area Agreement

City Region Board members signalled their commitment to secure new powers and freedoms from Government to help in the battle to combat worklessness, and raise skills levels, by signing off a draft Multi Area Agreement (MAA) on 28th January.
