Business as usual for City Region following Budget

It is very much a case of business as usual following the Government’s decision to announce only Leeds and Manchester as Pilot City Regions in the Budget Statement on 22nd April.

“Whilst it was disappointing and frustrating not to have secured Pilot status, the Government has nevertheless pledged itself to work with us on our Accelerated Development Zone and employment and skills Multi Area Agreement” said City Region Chair Councillor Mike Whitby.

The Board received a report on the Budget Statement at its Annual General Meeting on 3rd June which highlighted that both the Government and the Conservative Party are committed to devolving economic development powers to groups of local authorities that work together.
